1. About The Local Stand
The Local Stand (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a community directory for independent food stands, cottage bakers, bread sheds, and farmstands across Minnesota and Wisconsin. The directory is free for visitors to browse. Owners may claim or list a business and manage it through a paid Business Membership. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of thelocalstand.com (the “Site”).
2. The Business Membership
The Business Membership is $35 per month and is billed monthly through Stripe, our payment processor. The membership renews automatically each month until you cancel it. You can cancel anytime from your owner dashboard or by emailing Support@thelocalstand.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not issue partial-month refunds except where required by applicable law. Full billing, cancellation, and refund details are in our Cancellation & Billing Policy.
3. Owner Responsibilities
As a business owner, you are responsible for the accuracy of your listing — including your business name, location, hours, products, availability, and contact details. You are also solely responsible for complying with all applicable food safety, cottage food, labeling, and permitting laws in your state and locality. The Local Stand publishes the information you provide and does not verify food safety compliance. You agree not to publish false, misleading, or unlawful content, and to keep your listing current.
4. Residential Addresses & Privacy
We do not publish exact residential addresses without the owner’s permission. Many stands operate from home addresses; we show city-level locations until an owner chooses to share more. See our Privacy Policy for the data we collect and how we use it.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Site lawfully and not to misuse it — including by scraping listings, impersonating another business, submitting fraudulent content, or interfering with the Site’s operation. We may suspend or remove listings and accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.
6. Disclaimers
The Local Stand is a discovery and directory service. We do not sell food, fulfill orders, or guarantee the accuracy, availability, or safety of any business or its products. You transact directly with each business at your own risk. The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind.
7. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Minnesota for any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
